Which candidates were invited, and why?
As with the BBC hustings and in accordance with Electoral Commission guidelines, candidates from the main parties (based on their local and national prominence and past election results in this area) have been invited to participate. The other candidates have been invited to provide a video clip that will be shown during the course of the event. Restricting participation to the main parties is necessary in terms of space constraints and to enable the invited candidates sufficient time to give adequate responses to the questions.
